Is
There Anything Bigger Than God?
- Do you feel guilty
if you allow yourself a few minutes' luxury of daydreaming? There's
always something to do, isn't there? Mow the lawn, take out the
garbage, paint the garage, change the oil, weed the garden, or transport
the kids to their next destination. There just doesn't seem to be
anytime for daydreaming.
Paul MacCready once stated in a speech: "The only ideas I've ever
had have come from daydreaming, but modern life keeps people from
daydreaming. Every moment of the day your mind is being occupied,
controlled, by someone else - at school, at work, watching television,
reading the newspaper or a hundred other things. You need to just
kick back in a chair and let your mind daydream."
In fact you ought to schedule it on your calendar if you have to,
but carve out some time when you can put your feet up and stare
out the window. No TV, no radio and no newspaper in hand, just relax.
You can do it, yes you can. Take an hour and go sit quietly under
a tree, with no book, no companion and no agenda.
One important idea that might come to you while there is that there
is nothing you face which is bigger or more powerful than our God.
That will certainly help you to relax. He is in control and you
are not. I don't know how that makes you feel but that instills
confidence in me. If I can grasp that God is able. I can leap tall
buildings with a single bound, stop a locomotive in it's tracks
or stare Satan down at high noon.
So go ahead. Kick back and try to imagine anything - anything -
yes anything that is bigger than God. Can't, can ya? Now you can
strengthen yourself with the image of God wrapped around you.
Whew, What comfort!
